 COACH LEWIS AND WINGERT

 Coach Kevin Lewis the girls varsity tennis coach has been teaching and coaching in the West Islip School District since 1982.  After coaching baseball, volleyball, football, soccer, swimming and wrestling coach Lewis began coaching the girls varsity tennis team in 1985.  In 1997 Kevin began coaching the boys varsity tennis team also.  However after 8 years he gave up the boys team to coach his three boys at home in various sports.  He kept coaching the girls and is still coaching today.  Coach Lewis has played and coached a 4.5 mens USTA team for many years.  His teams have won five Long Island and one New York state championship.  Coach Lewis is a 1973 graduate of Babylon High School where he played on the varsity football, wrestling, and baseball teams.  He graduated with a Physical Education and Health degree from Cortland State in 1977 and competed in wrestling throughout his four years in college.  Coach Lewis then recieved his masters in 1982 from Stony Brook University.

Coach Norm Wingert The boys and girls junior Varsity coach has been teaching in the West Islip School District since 1972.  Coach Wingert  has coached the boys Junior Varsity tennis team since the 1970's and he has coached the girls team for three years.  Mr. Wingert teaches history and world events where he has won many teaching awards.  Coach was an all american soccer goal keeper in college and later played professional soccer in the north american soccer league competing with players such as Pele'.  He often wonders why he had not coached the girls team sooner.  He enjoys coaching the team and the beutiful weather in the fall.  Coach also became a grandfather last spring where he ofter runs to his daughters house in West Islip to see his grandchild.
